This certificate program offered in partnership with Willis College was designed based on the 2014 Ontario Personal Support Worker Training Standard, in accordance with the National Association of Career Colleges. The program includes seven industry certifications: First Aid/CPR, NVCI, Safe Food Handlers, WHMIS, Gentle Persuasion, Fire Safety, and Fall Prevention certificates. In addition, the program features comprehensive theory classes and two clinical placements – one in a facility and one in a community setting.
What is unique about TeKnoWave is that it not only equips graduates with practical skills, but also maintains cultural safety by incorporating Indigenous wellness teachings, and ways of knowing and being into the curriculum. The program consists of 18 modules designed to enhance the pre-existing skills, knowledge, and life experiences of the students.
